A Brief Biblical History of the Israelites
The Children of Israel are descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (also called Israel), with whom God made a covenant. God Promised Abraham that He Would Bless his seed (descendants) and make them a great nation of people (Genesis Chapter 15). Through Moses, the servant of God, God delivered The Israelites out of Egyptian captivity through The Red Sea. In keeping His Word to Bless Abraham’s descendants, God made the Israelites His Chosen people and the greatest nation of people on earth and Promised to set them up as the top nation on earth, if they agreed to keep and obey His Laws, Statutes and Commandments (Deuteronomy 28:1-14).
God delivered the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage, and they dwelt in the wilderness on the outskirts of Jerusalem for 40 years. During that time, God gave Moses The Laws to give to the people, and they agreed to keep them. However, God said in Deuteronomy 28:15-68, that if the people did not keep His Laws, that He would punish and curse them and send them back into slavery by way of ship, to a foreign land. The scriptures state that they would lose their heritage, which includes their identity, language and history as part of the punishment. The Israelites did not keep God’s Laws and all the curses prophesied were fulfilled. Because losing their heritage was part of the curses, Deuteronomy 28:45-46 stipulates that the curses would be the identifier of who the true Israelites are.
These curses only fit one group of people….
